This beer ad seems to be a very pointed response to the idea of building walls between peoples of different countries:
Modelo Especial is brewed in Mexico by Grupo Modelo and is brought across the border by Crown Imports. Both companies are subsidiaries of the Constellation Brands, a U.S. company with locations around the world.
The music for the ad comes from Ennio Morricone, who wrote “L’Esasi dell’Oro” . . .
. . . for Sergio Leone‘s classic spaghetti western The Good, the Bad & the Ugly. Morricone’s spaghetti western scores are so well known that this Italian composer has shaped many people’s idea of what Mexican music sounds like.
Modelo did not go with the original, however, but a remix done by Bandini:
I’m having trouble finding any information on Bandini, but an old MySpace page suggests he may be Swiss.
This music has crossed more borders than the beer it advertises.
