Last week’s episode of The Blacklist ended with a montage illustrating various characters’ mistrust of each other. The somber mood was deepened by an elegiac tune with a beautiful, but weary female voice singing of rip tides, names called out at midnight and reaching out in dreams. This is music to listen to when you wake up at three in the morning and can’t stop thinking of someone who is gone.
I Shazamed it, but came up empty. I googled combinations of Blacklist (the title of the show), Wujing (the title of the episode) and “Here with Me” (the title closed captioning gave for the song). I even tried phrases from the lyrics. All I found were posts on discussion boards like TuneFind Apparently, I was not the only one frantically searching for the song.
Finally Jon Bokenkamp, the show’s creator, tweeted:
People asking about the song on this weeks #theblacklist. Amazing tune: “Here With Me” by Robot Koch. Soon to be released!

The next day, Robot Koch himself gave some hope:

A long week later, the official version of the song can now be heard in its entirety:
Singer Susie Suh‘s solo work is also worth checking out.
